The Tempest!

This week we have been getting stuck into some drama – acting out Scene 1 of The Tempest and creating different parts of the scene using our bodies. We made the ship, the mast, played rich passengers and hearty sailors, endured the storm, tumbled overboard, and swam ashore to a mysterious island – unmarked on any map…

We followed up this creative session with some fabulous writing in role as George, the ship’s watchman. Brilliant work, everyone!

Saxons on the Wight

Oliver Class enjoyed an very interesting (though chilly!) trip to Carisbrooke Castle today. We looked at the old Saxon fortifications outside and talked about how the landscape has changed. Then we had to be detective archaeologists: we found a burial site for an Anglo-Saxon man and used the grave goods to work out who he may have been.
